On Wednesday a field of 37 starters played before David Freebody, Barry Achurch, and Athol Roach were declared the winners, compiling a very good 14 + 19 score.
Despite dropping five on the very first end, they were able to come home strongly to defeat Bill Williams, Ron Baker and Maurie Nugent.
Runners-up, also in a triples game, were Greg Quinn, Barry Pattison and John Perry, who defeated Bill Cullen, Brian Norris and Bob Kiernan to the tune of 14 + 16.
Saturday saw 20 players in social bowls with two winter handicap pairs games.
The social winners were Don Kenniff, Warren Wade and Maurie Nugent, who had an 11 + 2 victory over Col Quince, Joe Banasiak and Angus MacKinnon, having to play on extra end to decide the result.
Brian Norris and Ian Birk were perhaps a little unlucky to be runners up, winning their match against Rick Stavin and Barry Perry 11+1.
On Sunday, Darcy Trudgett (Sussex Inlet), Ann Anderson and Graeme Pitt were too strong for opponents Bill Anderson, Cheryl Wotton and Fay King, to win 12 + 17 and take out the days prizes.
Saturday, with two games of winter handicap pairs, being played, saw a full green in play, with those that played socials.
Reigning champions, Jeff Madden and Ron Thomson were pitted against likely favourites Al Kennif and Iggy Vadkerti, to reach the semi-finals.
Throughout 14 ends the scores were 11 all, neither side being able to dominate.
End number 16 of 18 saw the Kenniff, Vadkerti pair stumble to concede a huge six shots.
Madden was able to close out the game to go through to the semis.
Although conceding a five in the early ends Jan Kapusta and Graeme Pitt were too strong for Scott Vander Draay and Frank Mierczak, eventually winning 18 to 12, to advance to the final.
We look forward to the ensuing semi and final.
