Once a jolly swagman… wandered into St Patrick’s Primary School.
It was Colonial Day at St Patrick’s on Friday, July 6, with students joining in activities that some of the district’s early European settlers may have enjoyed.
They cooked damper and played some games that did not include a computer screen, including running with a hoop and stick, hopscotch, jacks and more.
The day capped off history activities the school ran throughout terms one and two, including our Indigenous history, colonialism and Chinese immigration.
The fun at school on Friday followed an excursion to Bathurst’s goldfields on Thursday. Dressed in their best working plaid, the students tried their hand at panning.
Whether they found anything… well, that’s very hush hush.
