The event will take place at the Mac Scott Memorial Hall in Meadow Flat at 7pm.
Cr Statham noticed the need for an upgrade when she visited the memorial on Anzac Day, 2018 when she couldn’t read the World War I veterans and victims names clearly.
“It’s an insult unless it is up to date, so it needs to be saved,” she said.
Despite grants being available, Cr Statham said these tended to take too long for the money to come through.
“I just thought this was something we could do ourselves,” she said.
After looking at quotes for how much the inscriptions would cost, Cr Statham said she hoped to raise $800.
“I have been shocked that so many people want to help out, I’ve had people who despite not being able to attend the night, are donating money towards the cause,” she said.
“I think people are just recognising the need for it.”
The memorial also includes World War II veterans’ names inscribed in gold lettering, including Cr Statham’s father.
The personal connection has made this project that more important for Cr Statham.
“I just thought what if that had been my dad’s name on the World War I memorial, it would just be gone,” she said.
With no apparent committee to look after the memorial, the deterioration has seen 17 World War I veterans names fade.
Cr Statham said as soon as they raised enough money they would get the inscriptions done.
“It’s our history and it could just slip through the cracks, so the respectful thing to do is to restore it,” she said.
Cr Statham said she hoped that between 80 and 100 people would attend because that was all the hall could hold.
The West Brothers will be the entertainment on the night.
Tickets cost $25 per adult and $10 per child and can be purchased through Maree Statham on 0428 280 354.
Families have been asked to supply a plate for supper and to bring their own drinks.
