The championships will take place on Friday, July 27.
To make state, Alexis competed at Western, running four kilometres and coming in sixth position.
“Only the top six got to go to state and there were seven girls, so I just got in there,” she said.
Alexis said that Western was a lot harder then running in her normal school cross country.
“It was different to running here, it was way harder,” she said.
Alexis said she had no expectations going in to state but thought she would just give it a go and see how she went.

“I’m just happy I actually made it, I mean it would be nice to get one of the top positions, but I’ve just got to try my best,” she said.
This will be Alexis’ first time running and competing at state level, and is a bit nervous going into her first big competition.
When it comes to training, Alexis’ routine is quite simple.
“I run with my dogs after school mostly, like I enjoy running but I don’t compete in Little Athletics or anything like that,” she said.
Alexis said she knew two people who would be very proud of her.
“Mum and Dad will drive me to the carnival because I think they are very proud of my efforts,”
