Ladies Midweek Winter Competition commenced last Thursday, June 7, and although rain was hanging around earlier it finally cleared so the four teams in play could enjoy a pleasant day of tennis.

Pink played Lime and Aqua played Red. Both matches were fiercely contested.

The game between Pink and Lime was highly entertaining with laughter and great positioning of returns. Rosemary Rust and Colinette Morris enjoyed a great 7-2 set win for Lime. However, newcomer Tania Sharp’s running skills and teammate Liz Conroy’s constant returns enabled Pink’s win 30-24.

In the game between Aqua and Red a good first set win by Red’s Lorraine Dowler and Dawn Cafe applied pressure to their opposition.

Kristy Gaudry’s hard and fast shots and Olive Ward’s cross court returns enabled Aqua to respond valiantly and this seesawing match ended in a well-deserved draw.
