Art show introduced for Daffodils at Rydal Festival

The Rydal Village Association is inviting local artists to submit artwork for the Daffodils at Rydal Festival’s new art show competition.

Entries will become a main feature during the festival, which will be held on consecutive weekends, September, 8 and 9, and 15 and 16.

Every September, residents of Rydal perfect their gardens in the lead up to the Daffodils at Rydal Festival to have them open to the public.

The open gardens assist in raising money for local charities.

In 2018 the Rydal Village Association is expanding, to help support the local art community.

The Daffodil Committee’s Carolyn Andison said she hoped that the new artworks competition would attract a new market to the festival and would help support the local art community.

The art show provides an opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent by supporting a local fundraising event.

The art will be judged by people’s choice, with the winner to receive $250 in prize money, plus the opportunity for all artists to sell their work.

Since 2005, the Rydal Village Association’s Daffodils at Rydal Festival has raised more than $200,000 for local charities in the Lithgow local government area.
