The funding comes as a result of a successful application by Mayfield CEO Hamish Keith under round two of the NSW 2018 Incubator Event Fund and will be used to market the event.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the National Cool Climate Wine and Food Festival, to be held on Saturday, October 13, is one of 33 successful events in rural and regional NSW which will be held between July and December.
Mr Toole said the aim of the Incubator Event Fund was to offer seed funding to events in regional NSW to support their first or second year of activity.
“The fund supports innovative events that demonstrate sound organisational planning, have a unique alignment with the character and culture of the local region and can demonstrate a broad appeal likely to promote tourism and attract overnight visitation,” he said.
“The National Cool Climate Wine Festival is a collaboration between the long running National Cool Climate Wine Show, Bathurst Regional Vignerons Association and Mayfield Garden.
“The overall aim of the three organisations joining forces is to attract people from far and wide, via a series of events over a one-week period, to celebrate the best local food, craft beer, music and art - but most of all wine.”
Mr Toole said the first festival was held in 2017 at Mayfield Garden and attracted more than 800 people.
He said the event featured nine local vineyards, a local brewery and five local food producers together with live entertainment from four local bands and circus Surreal.
“I am sure the National Cool Climate Wine and Food Festival will contribute to the NSW Government’s goal to double overnight visitor expenditure in NSW by 2020.”
