Dayne Walker comes to Lithgow with a diverse background in sport and exercise science and a keen interest in health.

After making the move to the region for the lifestyle offered by acreage at Good Forest, Mr Walker found that his job as a regional sales representative selling orthopaedic implants was taking him away from home and his family a great deal. 

When the position opened for a manager at the Lithgow PCYC, he was eager to take up the challenge. 

“I’ve always been involved with youth, through coaching soccer and cricket,” he said. 

Mr Walker’s main focus, he said, would be to diversify the activities on offer. 

He has big dreams for the centre itself, including modernising the foyer area, offices and transforming some of the available space into an indoor court to allow for indoor sports such as badminton, volleyball and soccer. 

He would also like to see a return of the gym program. 

Mr Walker said members could expect to see some changes kicking off in term three, along with activities planned to help fundraise for the facilities needed. 

Community feedback on the PCYC’s place in the community and the programs it had on offer would also be important to the new management.

One of Mr Walker’s goals would be to form a Lithgow PCYC Committee, which would bring together interested community members and at least two youth representatives to have a voice in the PCYC’s activities. 

“The committee forms a direct link with different parts of the community,” he said. 

Mr Walker said he welcomed members of the community to come in to the centre, meet him and the staff and find out more about what was happening at the club. 

“Once our planning for our fundraising activities are finalised, we will be displaying our fundraising goals prominently in the foyer area,” he said.
