Originating in Lithgow, Glam Jam are a four piece glam, hair and rock band, that plays 70’s and 80’s covers as well as performing original songs.
The band consists of Lithgow's own Glen Snow as lead singer and guitarist, Duncan Andrew on drums, Christopher Campling on bass and David Henninger with lead guitar and keyboard.
The band will be playing at Grand Central Hotel this Saturday, June 9 at 9.30pm.
This is the band’s second time playing at the Central and the crowd is encouraged to dress up in their best glam and hair attire, with prizes going to the best dressed.
“Playing music gets you through the working week, so a gig at the end of it is always a nice way of finishing things up,” David Henninger said.
The band loves to perform songs such as “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Cherry Pie” as well as songs that highlight specific bands and instruments.
“Any song that involves stage antics such as Glen running around the audience while performing a guitar solo is our favourite,” Christopher Campling said.
The band has put a focus on playing and creating music that appeals to all ages.
“It is nostalgic for those who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s as well as being fresh and exciting for younger audiences,” Glen Snow said.
“The music is so catchy and memorable, you just can’t help but sing and dance along.”
Glam Jam formed as an amalgamation of musicians from other bands, and it did not occur straight away.
The band originally formed as a three piece with founding members Glen Snow, Christopher Campling and Duncan Andrew playing music together in Glen’s garage.
David Henninger, a friend of Chris’, attended a few gigs when Glam Jam was just starting out and was a guest appearance on guitar for a couple of songs at these occasions.
He was then invited to join the band, making it what it is today.
The idea to play glam and hair music came after a band practice with Glen, Chris and Duncan talking about wanting to do something different musically.
Glen said he remembers Duncan banging on the cow bell four times and it reminded him of the intro to ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ by Twisted Sister.
From there on in, we never looked back,

Band practice is a weekly event for the group and is not missed without good reason.
As Duncan is the only one who isn’t local, he travels an hour to attend practice.
“We are pretty committed,” Mr Campling said.
In preparation for gigs the band can jam two or three times a week, depending on factors such as new material, practising originals, or brainstorming stage antics.
Glam Jam have written several original songs including ‘Black Widow’ which recently featured on Retro Rehash, a Blue Mountains radio station.
“The process of writing originals is not always the same and you never know when inspiration strikes. Singing in the shower, mowing the lawn or hanging up washing is when ideas come to me,” Mr Campling said.
I then have to frantically scramble for a piece of paper, a pen and my bass guitar to get down as many ideas as possible, not always easy, especially if you are naked, running through the house and dripping wet.
The band’s goal at the start of the year was to play a couple of live gigs but since then the band has learnt more songs and written several originals and were looking forward to recording more.
“There is still a lot as musicians we want to achieve, we’d love to take our music to the world,” Mr Snow said
Mr Snow said the band was content in playing in a garage and within their hometown – after all, that is where all great bands are born.
“We are so grateful for the opportunities that local establishments such as Tarana Pub, Club Lithgow and the Grand Central have afforded us, but we are keen to get out and play more places locally,” Mr Campling said.
The band will be playing in Katoomba next month and they have pledged their support to Resilience 2018.
They will also be applying to play at Lithgow Halloween 2018.
“We would love the opportunity to show our town what home grown talent can truly achieve,” Mr Campling said.
The band urges everyone, regardless of the performer, to get out and support live and local music.
