With four ends to go Pugsley had it all to do and he was up to the task drawing level on 16 all with one to go. Both teams controlled the head on the last end before Pugsley pushed the kitty into the ditch to hold shot. McNamara drew shot only to see Pugsley take out the shot bowl to hold game. With it all to play for McNamara drew to the lip of the ditch to take shot and win the game 17-16 in a great game.
In the minor singles the clash between Geoff Flynn and Greg Hilliard was expected to be close and that was what happened for the first five ends. Flynn lead 6-3 but then Hilliard said bye as he took off to lead 18-7. It never got much better for Flynn as he found himself on the wrong end of a 31-15 loss. Flynn’s cause was not helped by his indecision on witch hand to play.
The Jeff Howden verses Joe Menchin was a much closer game. Menchin had an early 7-3 lead before Howden levelled on ten all. A run of ends saw Howden lead 15-12 and then 16-13. Down 20-22 Menchin dropped a three giving Howden the break he needed and he went on to win 31-21.
In the socials Peter Matchett Greg Tilley and Jack Nicol were never in doubt against Peter Williams Craig Pugsley and Des Francis winning 18-11. Winners on the day were Jeremy McMillan Ray Wichello and Ian McMillan who beat Ray Palmer Bruce Robinson and Dave Nunan 19-12.
In the singles semi final Craig Brown will play Kim Alexander with the winner to play Ian Pender in the final. Bowlers are reminded that our membership fees are now due so see Pommie and he will fix them up.
