Aspiring firefighters had the opportunity to douse their own (pretend) blaze, wielding the fire hose with some help from the Lithgow fire crews.
The crew then demonstrated how they would cut up a car to release a person trapped inside.
Fire and Rescue NSW threw open the doors to hundreds of fire stations across NSW, giving communities a chance to check out the fire trucks, stations and meet their local firefighters.
