The final selection for the U21 men’s, women’s and Blues teams was announced on April 24.
Selections into NSW squads took place at the state championships last year, where Lithgow’s Open Women’s Team came out on top of the First Division table and Lithgow men came runner-up in Division 2.
From these teams Clare Bosman, Andrea Gillard, Abigail Wilson and Logan Hunter were selected into the state squad.
On the Anzac Day long weekend, the state’s U21 and Blues teams were picked from the state squads.
“We had a number of people make squads and teams from that tournament,” Leanne Bosman, the coach of Lithgow’s Open Women side said.
Clare Bosman, Andrea Gillard and Abigail Wilson were all named in the U21 women’s team.
Panthers goal keeper Logan Hunter was picked for the NSW Blues U21 side.
Two men originally from Lithgow, Kookaburra’s Lachlan Sharp and Sam Gray, were selected onto the NSW U21 men’s side. They represented North West Sydney at the state championship and both played for Zig Zag’s premier league side.
All three teams will contest the Australian U21 Men and Women’s Championships to be held in Sydney from Wednesday July 4 until the July 11 at Sydney Olympic Park.
The selection into the NSW sides is a big achievement, as the both the U21 Women’s and Men’s teams topped the national competition in 2017.
This was not without the help of Lithgow players Rene Hunter, Andrea Gillard, Abigail Wilson, Sam Gray and Lachlan Sharp, many of whom are set to return this year.
No doubt the Lithgow line up will be looking for a repeat performance.
