On their way to the State title, the team won the Western and Nepean competitions, much to their delight.
They secured their place in the State competition for the second time on May 11 at the Zone playoffs in Hazelbrook.
It was a winter wonderland in the Mountains on May 11, with snow flurries as competitors travelled through Blackheath. However, Hazelbrook turned on the sunshine with a cold wind blowing.
Lithgow Workies defeated Springwood, 28-25 in their match.
Hazelbrook No 4's defeated Springwood by 10 shots, while Camden defeated Lithgow City No 3’s by six shots.
Lithgow and Hazelbrook will now advance to State to be played on the Central Coast from August 8-12 at Canton Beach.
Good luck to the Workies team, which will be looking to go better than their last appearance at State. They finished runners-up on a countback.
