The society has been working on this project for three to four years, with five dedicated members researching the people behind the shop fronts.
“We have 10 posters that will go in shop windows on Main Street and they will show what the buildings and businesses looked like in the past, the families who ran them and information we have found out through research,” publicity officer for Lithgow and District Family History Society Jan Saundercock said.
The posters, which are located on the internal and external windows of the relating businesses, have been getting some attention from Lithgow residents already.
“We have put some across the road from the building they are talking about so that you can turn around and look at the building that you are reading about,” Ms Saundercock said.

The posters will remain up for three weeks but it is a project that will continue. Ms Saundercock said that the facade and the people may change but the memories would always be there.
“This is an ongoing project so if anyone wants to make a contribution, or has any photographs or stories, that would be most appreciated,” she said.
