Beehive is a great way for those who have recently retired or moved to town to either make new friends or be made welcome and become part of the community.
Beehive is open to everyone of the surrounding Lithgow community and classes are friendly - and fun! Tuition fee for daytime classes is $30 and multiple classes can be taken.
Classes on offer are varied so there will be something to suit everyone. Tapestry, languages, art, spinning, wool embroidery, train stories, bush walks and teddy bears are only a small selection.
Several Beehive members were successful with their beautiful creations at the recent local and Royal Easter Shows. Margaret Hickey was the winner of the State with her fruit cake entry.
Rosemary Stanley gained Lithgow Show Society Champion in embroidery with her queen size candlewick quilt. Annette Heaslip was successful with her family of Meercats, made in the teddy bear class. Annette won first prize and champion in Lithgow Show with Sasha and Mia. Dimitri was entered in the Royal Easter and won first prize. The Beehive teachers are very proud of the results.
Jenny Channing was the joint adult's section winner of the Greater Lithgow Arts Council Cultural awards.
If you would like to be part of this friendly environment but are not crafty, why not consider helping in the kitchen, preparing lunches and morning teas.
Free lunch and coffee to all kitchen helpers Beehive operates entirely on volunteers and as a way of expressing gratitude for all their efforts the committee served a delicious thank you breakfast at the end of last term where there was a great variety of choices - something for everyone!
