Burlesque dancers, ‘Dance Like A Diva’, from the Blue Mountains opened Saturday night’s festivities followed by Brian Kinney playing honky tonk piano and magician Charley Rouse impressing with some slight of hand.
The night’s MC Dean Haglund, the Canadian actor and stand-up comedian who played ‘Ringo’ Langly one of The Lone Gunmen on the X-Files, provided laughs throughout the evening.
The ball’s organiser Sally Kelland invited Mr Haglund to Ironfest, befriending him since his move to Australia.
He said despite attending many pop-culture conventions, Ironfest was something special.
“Ironfest has been so much fun. I love its small town community feel and that the mayor, and ex-mayor and counsellors are here really shows it’s a community event.
“It’s been heartwarming to be invited. Lithgow really reminds me of my home in Canada growing up in a small town on the prairies.
“It’s made me feel like a kid again,” he said.
Workies served up a three-course southwestern style spread and ‘Sideshow Annie’ played late into the night.
