On April 12 the final was played between thew teams of K. Bernard and C. Wotton and K. Mitchell and P. Johnson (playing a sub for J. Barnes).
The game could have gone either way and it was a real thriller for a final, the score being 18-15 to K. Bernard and C. Wotton.
While the championships were played we also had ladies playing social bowls. On April 10 there was one game of triples and three games of pairs.
Now the Western District Pairs are under way, with quite a lot of ladies entering, so good luck to every one involved.
WALLERAWANG
Playing in very windy conditions the two Craigs got away to a good start
The Wallerawang Community and Sports pennant side’s results were not good at the weekend.
The Fives took on Lithgow City and came away with a loss. Ian McMillan’s team of Chris Neaves, Jeff Howden and Daryl Archer had a difficult day against Jim Kelly and team but came away with a win.
Steve Jackson’s team of Jim McMahon, Bruce Robinson and Peter Matchett went down to Warren Kennedy. Winning two rinks to one gave City a well-deserved 9-1 victory.
The Sixes had a harder day of it, taking on the Oberon team at Oberon.
Des Francis, Jack Nicol, Lance Gillespie and Ray Palmer went down against Hans Brawn.
Jason Nunan, Jason Fraser, Ian McManus and Peter Williams went down to George Braun, while Tiger Feltham, Greg Tilley, Tony Holden and Mick Milton were beaten by Jody Tagget.
This gave Oberon a ten nil win. While not winning too many games both sides put up some good displays.
In a semi-final of pairs the team of Craig Brown and Craig Pugsley played Jed Fraser and Jason Nunan.
Playing in very windy conditions the two Craigs got away to a good start as they led 10-5 after eight ends.
Fraser and Nunan fought back to trail 10-8 but the experience showed as the Craigs went to 22-11 and then finished the game with a 25-13 win.
They now go on to play Mike McNamara and Pommie Williams in the final.
The sheets for the Hard Rock memorial minor singles are also on the board so get your names in.
