Unlike the knockout games, the trial went for the whole 50 minutes compared to the knockout’s 15 minute halves.
It gave the chance for the Bears, including players new to the game, to get a feel for the competition format and different positions, as well as working on strengths and weaknesses within the team.
The Bears unfortunately lost the game as Kandos picked up on the Bears’ scattered defense line.
One try was scored by Bears young gun Jessie-Rose Lutschini who used her speed to run over 50 metres of the field dodging about five Kandos players. Kandos were quick with their tries varied between their players.
All Bears girls played well considering it was the first time for most. The game was a friendly but competitive game on the field, with both teams showing great sportsmanship.
The Bears thanked Kandos for a great game and for those who travelled to help out on the day.
The next time both teams come head to head will be for the Nathan Boundy memorial game in Lithgow
This weekend the Bears Rugby League and League Tag team will start the season off playing in Orange against the Barbarians.
