Relocated from Blast Furnace Park because of windy weather, Lithgow City Council’s Youth Week film screening went ahead indoors on Saturday night at the Civic Ballroom.

Approximately 160 people gathered at the ballroom to watch a free screening of ‘The BFG’ and enjoy a barbecued sausage or two provided by the Lions Club.
Balloons and glow sticks made for a cinematic atmosphere in the darkened hall.
12-year-old Gracey Northey said her and her friends attended the event “for fun” and for something to do. She said she hoped to see more movie nights in Lithgow, as did Rimpal Sibia who came with friends and family.
Cultural development officer Kristy Lenon said council would aim to host a cinema event annually, perhaps favoring spring or summer for another outdoor cinema event.
“The event was extremely popular with families who praised it for being budget friendly, fun and enjoyable for all ages,” she said.
The screening at the Blast Furnace was relocated as predicted wind speeds on Saturday evening were too high for the inflatable outdoor screen to be installed.
Youth Week is a celebration of young people aged 12 to 24 in NSW and runs from Friday 13 – 22 April 2018.
