Workies Bowls held their annual Black Diamond tournament, which once again was very successful.

With 20 teams competing for the big prize money, the teams were required to play six games over Easter Saturday and Sunday.

After the preliminary games, the sides were divided into two divisions; The Black Diamond and the Esk, with only the top ten teams going into the top division to fight for the prestigious Diamond.

The winners were the very strong combination of Dave Butler, Stephen Lesslie and Sue Metcalf. The in-form Ian Birk skipped Dave and Ina Hunter into second place with Ken Poppett, Ray Warren and Betty Lothian coming home in third place.

Warren and Judy Kennedy with Ted Healey took out the Esk from runners up Mick McCann, Cheryl and Trevor Schram.

Organisers said the weekend went without a hitch and that they thanked their multiple sponsors.
