Both of Lithgow High School teams have won through to the next round of competition.
The girls’ team won all three of their games to claim the Western Region Champion title.
Their wins were against West Wyalong (38-34), Dubbo (39-31) and Bathurst (48-25).
The wins kept coming as four girls from the team were selected in the Western Region representative side: Gerodie Goodwin, Meleke Jenkins, Kyra Phillips and Kallan Phillips.
Congratulations also to the boys' Open basketball team, which claimed the runner-up spot in the Western Region Championship.
The boys’ team won two of their three games, defeating West Wyalong (55-52) and Dubbo (86-42). They lost to Bathurst (42-41).
Well done boys and to their coach Mr Lloyd.
Both teams now progress through to the next round.
The boys go to the Riverina to play the runner-up of the Riverina competition.
The girls have a home game against the Sydney West runner-up team.
The Lithgow High School girls’ team is one to be reckoned with.
It won the NSW Combined High School Sports Association basketball state championships in Terrigal in November 2017.
