Lazers got off to a good start in the first quarter, executing the offences well, and getting good open shots away. They backed this up with good defence, including controlling the rebounds.
Unfortunately some silly fouls and turnovers let the Yowies back into the game and scores were tied at 21 all at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter was marred by some communication breakdowns, and some player frustration that let the much bigger Yowies take the quarter, and go into half time 3 points up.
The third quarter saw Lazers level the score, by playing wide and allowing the offense work. In the fourth quarter the Yowies stepped up their game, and midway point Yowies had an 11 point lead.
Lazers drew the lead back, and took a one point lead with 13 seconds left. They defended this, without fouling and came away with the win.
Kurt Northey had a big game on the boards, well supported by Adam Marjoram and Michael Cox. Jaidyn Goodwin and Terrence Durham controlled the front line defence.
Top scorers were Terrence Durham 22, Adam Marjoram19, Michael Cox 17 and Jaidyn Goodwin 11. For the opposition it was Seb Kaun 13, Evan Fowler 12.
Lazers’ next game is at home on Saturday, April 7 at 7pm, against Sutherland.
