The annual awards mark people’s efforts to bring the arts to the forefront and “enrich the life of the Lithgow community,” council president Rae Burton said.
In the adults’ section, the final award of the night, there was more than one person wiping away a tear as it was shared between artist Jennifer Channing and her grand niece, performer Sarah Lewis.
The Group award, for outstanding contribution throughout the year, went to the Lithgow Highland Pipe Band, which continues a 104-year tradition of providing music for the district’s events, as well as representing the district at gatherings around the country.
The Senior Student award was shared between Zac Arkley-Smith and Joshua Stait, who could not attend the ceremony, while the Junior Student award went to Chloe Goodman and Imogen Dellabosca.
