It’s showtime in Lithgow and, with most of the hard work done, organisers are looking forward to welcoming large crowds.
“Everything looks good,” secretary Vanetta Renshaw said.
The Lithgow Show was established in 1885 and the current committee continues to be passionate about presenting a successful local country event “with lovely agricultural links”.
“It’s a tradition which is worth preserving for future generations,” she said.
Two days of family fun begins on Friday, March 16 and continues on Saturday, March 17. Here is a selection of what to see and do.
Lithgow Show and Machines Day Swap Meet: In a first for the show, this year a swap meet will be incorporated into Saturday’s events.
Lithgow City Council Bull Ride: Back by popular demand, showgoers can enjoy heats on Friday and the finals on Saturday.
Outback Stockman: The show has been described as ‘orchestrated chaos’! The crowd will giggle and learn a thing or two while watching some horsemanship and working dogs – all with a comedy spin. Also involved will be horses, pigs, dogs, sheep, a mule, a goat and an oversized bullock.

Lawn Mower Racing: Off and racing in Friday night heats and revving up for Saturday’s finals.

Farmers Challenge: Students from Lithgow High School, Portland Central School and LaSalle Academy will compete in a range of agricultural challenges.
For the younger showgoers Sideshow Alley will be packed with great rides and Lithgow High School will host the Animal Nursery.
