Queen Elizabeth Park will come alive with merriment and joy on Saturday, December 9, when Lithgow City Council hosts the inaugural Christmas Carols and Markets family event.
The new celebration will be a fresh twist on a previous festival.
“In previous years the Lithglo festival and markets were held at this time, but Lithgow City Council has decided to move this event into the new year when daylight savings has finished,” acting tourism manager Simon Francis said.
In it’s place will be an afternoon and evening of family fun and Christmas frivolity.
“The Christmas Carols and Markets will be a feel-good, Christmas-themed event which promises to be a wonderful day for the whole family,” Mr Francis said.
People can wander through the more-than 30 market stalls, picking up gifts for Christmas.
The markets will feature a range of local and regional products including great Christmas gifts and craft.
“There will be a bit of everything at the markets,” Mr Francis said. “From bath and beauty products to antiques and the Salami Man. It’s a good mix of products and is just ideal for Christmas gifts.”

Families can then get into the festive spirit and sing along at the carols, presented by the Combined Community Carollers between 6pm and 7.30pm.
You can bring along a rug and some picnic delights or tuck into a delicious sausage sizzle run by the Lions Club (for the first 500 people).
It is rumoured that Santa may also pop along to hear the beautiful carols!
