Portland’s first catwalk show on Saturday night, November 25 was a celebration of wearable art.
Featuring designs by artists Robyn Caughlan and Leila Constable, the event at the Portland RSL put an emphasis on ‘upcycling’ used garments into fashion pieces, as well as local and indigenous designs.
Upcycling is all about turning discarded clothing into wearable fashion items. It is fast becoming an innovative low cost fashion concept that brings out creativity and artistic talents.
The show raised funds for Portland’s Cultural and Heritage Association.
