The tournament was a huge success with players from Penrith, Springwood, Lithgow City, Wallerawang, Oberon, Portland, Majellan, Lawson and the Lithgow Workies.
Workies Women’s president Lesley Townsend welcomed the guests and officials and Sue Metcalf read out the cards.
At lunch on the second day Townsend introduced a representative from Australian Hearing who gave an interesting talk.
Townsend then thanked Ray Warren, Don Milligan and Doug Thornton for their much appreciated help during the two days.
Western District secretary Cheryle Wright and Western District president Jean Wild congratulated all officials and the Workies Club.
Raffles and a 100 club finished off proceedings with thanks to Lynn Gibson for her donation of a bowls bag.
The Springwood trio of Kate Koutsuokos, Julie Wulff, Margaret Mitchell finished on top at the end of the two day event.
They were followed by two Workies teams, Jenny OBernier, Betty Lothian and Judy Fegebank in second as well as Cheryl Schram, Sue Metcalf and Wendy Constable in third.
Fourth place went to the Majellan side of Liz Bul, Jocelyn Ballard and Jean Wild followed by Lithgow City’s Pam Johnson, Anne Anderson and Gloria Davidson in fifth position.
On day one the best cards went to Margaret Lalor of Lawson and Noela Williams of Workies.
Day two’s best cards went to Cynthia Thornton of Workies and Penrith’s June Kirk.
A huge thank you to all the 14 sponsors who made this carnival a success, a great two days was had by all.
