Crowds gathered at the Hartley Historic Site, which is managed by NSW National Parks.
“It is an immense drive to the visitor economy,” Mr Toole said.
“It allows people to come here and discover what Lithgow has to offer.”
The State Government has invested $4m at the site over the last four years, he said, and the site has proved very popular, drawing “4000 visitors last year alone”.
Additional land would allow for additional activities to be pursued on the site, Mr Toole said.
The day featured a special performance from the Highland Pipe Band, which was the nominated cause for the proceeds of the 2017 event, and a fashion show from Sydney’s Gallery Serpentine in the church.
The event doubled as a celebration to mark 50 years of NSW National Parks.
