Five-hundred guests are expected to flock to one the biggest event’s on Lithgow’s social calendar. The ballroom will play host to the pipe band’s floor show, Kim Durie School of Dance highland dancers and the White Bros.
The official opening of the ball will take place at 8pm, including the introduction of special guests, and the Lithgow Highland Pipe Band will perform their floor show, playing in formation, at 10pm. The dance floor will be open until 2am.
The Highland Pipe Band Ball is an annual event.
“The ball is a tradition started years ago by the pipe band because they would often perform at balls in other towns. So they decided to give Lithgow its own ball, which is why we started having it here,” pipe major Jo Cambridge said.
This year’s tickets have sold out. Ms Cambridge wished to remind guests the dress code is strictly formal and that women’s dresses must be to the floor (no ‘mullet’ dresses). Guests must be over 18 and bring photo ID.
