Regal Trophy: The top eight cueists from the Terry Longdon Memorial Trophy competition met recently at The Workies to find who was going to be the Regal Trophy champion for 2017. Six of the seven teams were represented with one of the most open fields to in a long time to participate with no firm favourite.
Game 1: Peter Warner (-20) versus Trystan Ford (+21). Warner is usually one of the hardest players to beat as he never gives up and this game he had to give Ford 41 start. Ford won 85 – 53.
Game 3: Jamie Glencorse (+11) versus Shannon Baer (-11). Baer tried his hardest but Glencorse was potting some good shots and played very safe to easily come home 58 – 25 .
Games 3: Michael Wellings (-21) versus Brett Bradley (+10). With 22 points on the table Wellings conceded the game and Bradley won 51 – 32.
Game 4: Wayne Lewis (+5) versus Frank Wawn (-10): Just a couple of late mistakes by Wawn saw Lewis come home a 64 – 50 victor.
Semi Final 1: Jamie Glencorse (+11) versus Trystan Ford (+21): Ford did play some good shots but it was a couple of mistakes and Glencorse’s consistent play that saw Glencorse win 66 – 50.
Semi Final 2: Wayne Lewis (+5) versus Brett Bradley (+10): Bradley did get away and Lewis needed a snooker and the last two balls to win by one point and he was trying hard. Bradley sank the pink to win 58 – 33 and in doing so sank Lewis’s confidence.
Final: Jamie Glencorse (+11) versus Brett Bradley (+10): Glencorse needed the last three balls to win then Bradley made a mistake gifting seven points to Glencorse when he fouled. To his credit Bradley never panicked he potted the blue and pink to put the game beyond contention 56 – 31. Brett Bradley was a deserved 2017 Regal Trophy champion and that now concludes the Terry Longdon Memorial competition for 2107.
