Lazers survived a second half come back from Canberra and were only able to secure the win in the final seconds.
The victory was an encouraging boost for Lithgow’s premier basketball team as it came against a Canberra side currently sitting third on the ladder.
Lithgow had a distinct height advantage over their opponents but the Gunners countered with their speed and dynamic game.
Todd Brownlow stood out for the Lazers as he dominated the boards and scored several strong baskets to finish with 20 points.
Adam Marjoram had great captain’s game, contributing with great assists and rebounds, as well as landing 18 points of his own.
Addison Flynn had a quiet first half by his standards but came to life in the second period using quick feet to good advantage to notch up 26 points.
Ryley and Matt Hughes turned in solid games. Ryley’s defence was a highlight and Matt proved again what a menace he can be to opposing teams.
Kurt Northey, the tallest man in the league, had a powerful game under the boards.
The top scorers for Canberra were Jarrod Phillips with 18 and Jack Bartholmeusz with 17.
Lithgow face a tough road trip to Tamworth next weekend to play the Thunderbolts, the top team in the competition.
Lazers will give the game their all, and with momentum on their side they have every chance of coming home with a win.
