A 27-year-old man was undergoing surgery on Thursday night after allegedly being stabbed with a knife on the left side of the chest.
Police arrested a 45-year-old woman, who is related to the man, immediately after the alleged stabbing. She is assisting police with their inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Luke Rankin, Crime Manager, within Chifley Local Area Command, said when police and paramedics arrived they found the victim suffering the alleged stab wound, and he was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Orange Base Hospital for surgery. The injury was not considered to be life threatening.
Detective Inspector Rankin said it was anticipated charges would be laid against the 45-year-old.

BATHURST police are investigating a stabbing this afternoon at a home in Gilmour Street, Kelso.
A man in his mid-20s was stabbed to the left side of his chest and has been rushed to Orange Base Hospital for treatment.
Detectives and crime scene investigators remain at the scene.
