The Agricultural Societies Council of NSW Next Generation Award caught Mr Wiggans off guard and he said he was honoured to be chosen to receive it.
The award recognises the next generation of show society members across the state working on their local show committees.
Gemma King was named as Lithgow Showgirl for 2017 at the event which, though hampered by rain throughout, still ended in a blaze of fireworks on Saturday night, March 18.
Events including King of the Mountain and the lawnmower races were cancelled due to the rain, which fell sporadically throughout both days of the show.
Show Society members worked to move events indoors and cut the price of entry, offering $5 entry to all comers on Saturday.
Those who braved the weather enjoyed the program and the rides, which continued to run. A grand parade, including vintage tractors and machinery, was held on Saturday afternoon and dance performances took place under cover.
