Our apologies to Jerry Lee Lewis but even that old rocker would have been impressed by the statistics for next weekend’s canine extravaganza coming our way.
Rydal Showground is about to be over-run with hundreds of dogs — and they’re not just your street mutt variety either.
These are the true bluebloods of the doggie world and each year around this time they descend on the rustic Rydal Showground as the bush setting for the Lithgow Kennel Club Show.
It’s a far cry from the manicured venue where many of these dogs will be strutting their stuff at the Royal Easter Show in a couple of weeks time but the mutts and their owners take the Rydal appearance just as seriously as they strive for championship points on their register.
Every year the show attracts heaps of entries, partly due to the Royal Easter warm up, and this year is no different with around 650 to face the judges on both Saturday and Sunday.
Hopefully our unpredictable weather will cooperate or we could have some soggy doggies.
Admission is free and you will be welcome to drop in and check it out.
