A long term resident of Wallerawang and proprietor of a local bakery, Mr Holden, died following a sudden collapse on Sunday.
He was 75 year of age.
Mr Holden, an early inductee into the Lithgow Sporting Hall of Fame at Club Lithgow, was selected to represent Australia in boxing at the Melbourne Olympics in 1956 but an eye injury meant he never fought a bout.
But elsewhere he truly established his name in Australian sport.
