Mechanical Fitter

The Role
 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join the maintenance team at Millmerran Power Station on a full time permanent basis. 

Our mechanical fitters are responsible for the maintenance of the Coal and Ash Plant, ensuring the plant achieves maximum availability and reliability. This optimal performance must be achieved whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility and protection of the major assets.

You will use your competencies to achieve plant performance targets and work within the bounds of the safety, environmental, behavioral policies and systems. 

Responsibilities:
 

Maintain the plant effectively to the set standards. Install, repair, maintain, test, modify, commission and fault find machinery and equipment to your level of competency.
 

• Complete plant routine maintenance and testing
• Follow maintenance procedures and highlight where revisions to procedures are required. 
• Utilise the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to create, manage, complete and enter history against work orders.
• Carry out minor plant isolation and operation
• Identify and recommend improvements on maintenance or operations systems and processes.
• Prepare and participate in the preparation of risk assessments, work method statements and / or job safety analysis.

 
Required Qualificiations & Skills:
 

To be considered for this role, you will require:
 

• Trade qualified minimum of 5 years’ experience (preferred) 
• Previous experience in Coal and Ash handling or similar environment (highly desirable)
• Experience with using CMMS to create / modify / complete work orders (highly desirable)
• Sound knowledge of QA systems and procedures (highly desirable)
• Understanding of the principle of preventative maintenance
• High focus on safety and an exceptional safety record in the industry 
• Must supply your own tools

Please note, this role is based on site at the Millmerran Power Station. Due to fatigue management reasons, we require the successful candidate to reside within a 1 hour drive of Millmerran, or be willing to relocate (at your own expense).
