Your new company
This position will see you working within a growing not-for-profit industry association, based in an inner-city suburb. You will be working with a well-established team dealing with employee and industrial relations matters.

Your new role
Reporting to the Executive Director of Industrial Relations & Legal Services, you will provide and ensure the efficient and effective delivery of information and complex employment legal advice and aid members with workplace relations and commercial matters, including, engagement and termination of employees, unfair dismissal, union rights of entry, contract inquiries, payment disputes and more. You will also:

  • Identify and report on regional workplace relations and legal issues which will impact on members or the industry, including drafting legislation, submissions and briefing papers, articles and more as required.
  • Provide policy, research, and support regarding workplace relations, WHS and legal issues, across all areas of IR/ ER.
  • Deal with complex member matters as requested and as regional workflow requires
  • Present at industry forums and provide other relevant training as required
  • Provide secretariat support and attend Committees
  • Other duties or tasks as directed by the Executive Director

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered you will have:

  • A minimum of 4 years post admission experience with an unrestricted practicing certificate
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law
  • Appropriate experience within industrial relations, employment law and/or business compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team
  • Experience in policy development and advocacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, within time constraints.
  • Proven experience of showing initiative, and working through strategic issues and producing results
