ACTIVE KIDS OFF AND RUNNING
It’s a success story in the making. The NSW Government’s Active Kids program has certainly hit the ground running. I am proud to report that in the Bathurst Electorate alone 6230 Active Kids vouchers have been issued since the program came online on January 31 this year.

Across the state the top five most popular sports included soccer, netball, rugby league, dance and swimming.
The vouchers are available for school-enrolled children and allow parents, carers and guardians to use a $100 rebate to put towards the registration and participation costs of sport and active recreation activities for their kids.
The good news is that Active Kids vouchers can be used until December 31, so whether your child takes part in summer or winter sports activities, or even dance, make the most of this opportunity to make your household budget go that little bit further.
You can apply for a voucher online through the MyServiceNSW account, and then redeem the voucher at your local sporting club or approved provider.
OFF AND RACING
In my role as the Minister for Racing, I am pleased to announce that regional racing clubs can soon apply for a share in $400,000 for projects that build stronger links with local communities as part of the NSW Government’s new Back to the Track Regional Racing Grants.
This new initiative aims to support thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race tracks by encouraging new and innovative ideas.
Grants of up to $20,000 are available for projects such as training programs for those wanting to begin a career in the industry, host racing events oriented to new markets or hold sport and community events at the track.
I know there will be a lot of interest in this program from clubs across the Bathurst Electorate and I look forward to seeing ideas that support and build on current race meetings, such as markets or small concerts.
Applications for these grants are open from August 1-27.
LIFE SAVING GRANTS ARE OPEN AGAIN
What I believe is one of the most important funding streams available across the Bathurst Electorate is once again open for applications.
The NSW Government’s Local Sport Defibrillators Grants Program really is a life saver. It offers clubs and sporting organisations the opportunity to receive 50 per cent of the cost of purchasing an Automatic External Defibrillator.
I would encourage all eligible organisations to consider taking advantage of this grants program because you really never know when someone is going to go into cardiac arrest and could be in need of this life-saving device.
Successful applicants can receive $1250 in funds towards the installation and maintenance cost of a defibrillator. Applications close September 14 and more information can be found at www.sport.nsw.gov.au/grants/defibrillator.
Millthorpe Stop Coming!
We are one step closer to having the XPT stop on request for Millthorpe residents and visitors with the design now unveiled.
The features include a simple platform extension with a moveable ramp to be provided by the train staff for customers with accessibility issues, a new platform approximately 15 metres long that will provide seating, additional lighting, an information board, tactile indicators and a help point.
The community is invited to provide feedback on the proposed design at a workshop on Wednesday 25 July from 5pm – 7pm in the Millthorpe Golden Memories Museum at 37 Park Street. To register your attendance, please email projects@transport.nsw.gov.au.
