Both Grade 5 and 7 suffered 9-1 defeats, Grade 5 at the hands of Wallerawang on that clubís home green while the Grade 7 players travelled to Orange City, also for a 9-1 loss.
For the Grade 5 sides, Warren Kennedy provided the only bright light for Lithgow City when his side of Jim Kelly, Peter Kearney and Gil Mendoza had a hard match before claiming a narrow 25-22 win.
Kerry Clarke, Frank Mierczak, Barry Perry and Athol Roach nearly claimed a second win for the City sides, before finally succumbing 23-20 while Les Barnes, Peter Rutherford, Stan Campbell and Mick Wholohan went down 23-16.
The Grade 5 sides will appreciate being at home on Saturday March 24 at 1pm when they will face up to Gulgong who City beat in the first round.
Selectors have made only the one change to the Grade 5 teams with Gil Mendoza moving up to take the place of the unavailable Jim Kelly, with Wayne Allan moving into the vacant lead spot.
Teams are: Kerry Clarke, Frank Mierczak, Barry Perry and Athol Roach; Les Barnes, Peter Rutherford, Stan Campbell and Mick Wholohan; and Warren Kennedy, Gil Mendoza, Peter Kearney and Wayne Allan.
The Grade 7 teams found the combination of a slick Orange City green and very strong winds hard going.
Ian Birk and his side of Dave Hunter, DarrelL Wright and Ritchie Bilby claim a somewhat controversial one shot win, 17-16, despite losing the ends 10-11.
The other two sides were not so fortunate, suffering sound losses.
John Perry, Jim Bannerman, Ian Northey and Richard Forbes went down 25-18 while Dave Robson, Iggy Vadkerti, Bruce Gibbons and Don Kipp went down 23-15.
Opponents for the Grade 7 players at 11 am on Sunday March 25 are Blayney and the players will be hoping for a repeat of their first round victory.
The selectors have made two changes with the availability of Garry Sutherland and teams are: Ian Birk, Dave Hunter, Ritchie Bilby and Greg Quinn; Dave Robson, Garry Sutherland , Iggy Vadkerti and Bruce Gibbons; John Perry, Jim Bannerman, Ian Northey and Richard Forbes.
In coming events, there are still places available for one of the big events on the Lithgow City calendar, the Open Good Friday pairs.
Any type of combination of sexes can play in this highly regarded event and a list for nominations is available in the air lock leading onto number one green.
With daylight saving coming to an end, so too are the mid week twilight events.
It was the presentation afternoon for the Tuesday mixed twilight players on Tuesday March 20 where the eventual winners were Don Kipp and Gloria Clarke.
