The 52-year-old was found guilty of intimidation after an incident in Portland on January 19 this year.
The court heard the man had been arguing with his partner of 34 years that day and, during the fight, had said he would shoot her rather than letting her have the house in the event they broke up.
Some time later in the day, the woman found the man’s air rifle set on a table near the back shed. Scared, she retreated to the house. As she did so, she heard two shots from the air rifle, one of which punctured the top of an inflatable pool that had been blown up in the back yard.
The police were called and the air rifle was found in the shed hidden among tools.
The man pleaded guilty to charges of intimidation, possessing an unregistered firearm, firing a firearm in a public place and acquiring a firearm without a licence or permit.
He was fined $1100.
Bringing drugs into jail
A Mount Pritchard woman was placed on an 18-month good behaviour bond for attempting to bring a small amount of drugs into Lithgow Correctional Centre.
Donna Elsayed, also known as Linda Bargashaun, 38, was visiting her brother at Lithgow jail when corrective services staff saw her remove something from her sleeve and pass it to him.
The inmate put the item down the front of his overalls. The visit was suspended by staff and the inmate was searched. A condom containing three small coloured balloons and a stick of material believed to be tobacco was found in his underwear.
One of the balloons tested positive for heroin.
Possess drug in jail
A Bexley woman was found in possession of the drug Buprenorphine at Lithgow Correctional Centre on July 17, 2017.
A search uncovered the five strips of the opioid, which Lithgow police’s report to Lithgow Local Court estimated were worth $500 each within the jail.
The vehicle 20-year-old Samantha Sedrak arrived in was searched by Lithgow Corrections staff and a small amount of methamphetamine was discovered inside. Ownership of the drug was claimed by the man Sedrak was travelling with.
A strip search followed and a small orange balloon fell out Sedrak’s sports bra.
“I forgot about that,” Lithgow police reported she stated at the time it was discovered.
She was fined $440 for possessing a prohibited drug in Lithgow Local Court on March 16.
Fuel theft
Now that is an expensive tank of fuel. A Rouse Hill woman was fined $660 in Lithgow Local Court on March 15 after failing to pay for petrol at the Bowenfels 7Eleven station.
The court heard Shauna Marie Locke, 37, was captured on CCTV as she filled up the car with $73.17 in fuel and drove away without attempting to pay for it at 11.15pm on December 15 last year.
An attempt had been made to alter the vehicle’s licence plate with a marker.
Locke was charged on January 9 after failing to repay the company when told to by police.
Fine for assault
A Queensland man has been fined $1100 for assaulting his 77-year-old father in Lithgow.
The 51-year-old man returned to Lithgow to help organise his mother’s funeral and was living in his mother’s home in Bowenfels when the incident occurred on October 10 last year.
Lithgow Local Court heard the two men were involved in a heated discussion about funeral arrangements when the son shoved his father. The 77-year-old, who was seated in a mobility scooter, toppled over into a garden bed and his lower right leg was pinned by the scooter.
In an attempt to pull him upright, the man’s shoulder and arm were also injured.
