Snail mail concerns

Recently I posted four snail mail articles that were correctly addressed, correctly stamped and had my residential address on the back of the envelope but were neither delivered to the recipients or returned to me.
I asked Australia Post the reason for the non delivery of this mail and the answer I received was that they couldn't tell me because none of the articles were registered mail.

Therefore I am very concerned that the Tax man may knock on my door at any moment to take me away because they haven't received my return, or the gas or electricity could be disconnected because payment cheques were not received.
Worse still, what if the house burns down and the insurance company didn't receive the renewal?
I am wondering whether Australia Posts red letter boxes are fitted with shredding machines that chew up my mail. Or are the articles floating around in infinity?
Australia Post's service is deplorable and no wonder more and more people are lucky enough to do their business on line and Australia Post is losing money.
I am glad I am not able to buy shares in Australia Post because if I did and it was profitable I probably wouldn't receive the dividends in the mail anyway. So be wary everyone and don't expect to receive a snail mail Easter card from me!
