Gang Gang Gallery’s studio will host its third monthly open mic night on Wednesday, March 14, with local entertainers gracing the stage from age seven to 67. And there is the opportunity for others to give it a crack on the night.
Lithgow thespian Norman Lindgren decided to organise a monthly ‘Entertainers night’ to provide a space for residents to perform in a family-friendly environment.
The gallery has already hosted magicians, belly-dancers and musicians.
“Next week will have a young one performing ballet, some keyboard and there will be a singalong and poetry, as well as a drums performance,” Mr Lindgren said.
The past two ‘Entertainer’s nights’ have attracted around thirty people so far.
“Events like this in Lithgow - poetry nights and open mics are rare. It’s a chance for people to showcase their skills,” he said.
Mr Lindgren also encouraged people to bring a plate to share in the night’s intermission where complementary tea and coffee will be served.
“We have a half-time supper, it’s an opportunity for people to get to know each other,” he said.
People interested in performing or attending can contact Norman on 0411 736 012. As the venue is small, audience members are encouraged to book their spot by visiting the gallery before Wednesday night.
The ‘entertainers night’ is held on the second Wednesday night of each month from 6-9pm.
Entry into the studio is from James Street. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for teens and free for children to cover the use of the space.
