The fund offers a one-off grant of up to $20,000 for new and existing smaller-scale events.
Whether it’s for marketing, public relations, venue hire or attendee research, this $20,000 grant will assist in attracting more overnight visitors to the Bathurst Electorate in the hope they stay longer and spend more time exploring our wonderful region.
I encourage those eligible to apply soon so they don’t miss out on this wonderful NSW Government initiative. The more events we support across our regions, the more heads on hotels beds, diners in restaurants and shoppers in stores.
The Regional Flagship Events Program is managed and administered through the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. Applications for round two of the 2018 Incubator Event Fund are open until Sunday, March 18. Visit www.destinationnsw.com.au/rfep.
Nominate a Senior
’m calling on residents to nominate local seniors, who make a positive impact in the community, for a 2018 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Award.
The awards are a wonderful way to showcase the talents and contributions of seniors living in the region, as part of the special 60th Anniversary celebrations of the popular NSW Seniors Festival.
Seniors make a real difference to local families, recreational groups, businesses and organisations, and we want to celebrate them. I am sure everyone knows an older person who deserves to be recognised, so I encourage you to nominate them and show them how much they are appreciated for all they do.
Seniors have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer, and they continue to make significant contributions to communities across NSW.
Nominations for the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Awards are open from February 20 until March 29. Award recipient/s will be announced on April 10. For further details contact the Bathurst Electorate office on 6332 1300 or bathurst@parliament.nsw.gov.au.
Stocking Our Rivers
Local fishing clubs were recently delivered their allocations of Murray Cod, restocking native reserves in the Macquarie River.
This regeneration is through funding partnerships with the NSW Recreational Freshwater Fishing Trust and our local not-for-profit fishing clubs.
The fish were purchased by our local clubs with matched Dollar for Dollar funding from the sale of recreational fishing licence fees.
The Central Acclimatisation Society (CAS) and Dudley Fishing Club released 2800 Murray Cod into the river at Bathurst from money raised at the Gone Fishing Day event held at Eglinton and the Bundi fishing club released 8000 fish in the Dixons Long Point area from funds raised by members.
A big thank you to all the local volunteers who help keep our waterways full of these fantastic fish. Visit www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational.
More Coal Jobs for Lithgow
THE future of the mining industry in the Lithgow area has been further secured with the creation of 32 jobs following today’s announcement by the State Government that the Invincible Mine at Cullen Bullen will reopen.
The NSW Planning and Assessment Commission has also taken into consideration environmental concerns in reaching this decision. This news follows recent legislation introduced by the NSW Government, securing 600 jobs for Lithgow at the Spring vale Mine and Mount Piper Power Station.
