A fire broke out in a World Heritage temple considered to be Tibetan Buddhism's most sacred site, Chinese state media reports.

The fire at the 1300-year-old Jokhang Temple in the Tibetan capital Lhasa broke out on Saturday night and was soon extinguished, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
Photos and videos shared online showed smoke rising from the Buddhist temple and part of a roof fully engulfed by flames.
There were no casualties, Xinhua reported.
The site, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, houses many treasures including manuscripts and over 3000 images of Buddha.
The cause of the fire was unknown and it was not clear if any cultural items were damaged by the fire.
