There are three new members on the committe for 2018. The committee is made up of Sue Banning (president), Debbie Bennett (vice president), Denise Fitzgerald (secretary), Bev Coombs (assistant secretary), Carol Dukes (treasurer), Dorreen Hart (assistant treasurer), Irene Bonnani (delegate), Fay Read and Maree Buck (program officers) and Barbra Kuncio (publicity officer).
Outgoing president Fay Read welcomed everyone to the meeting and opening the annual general meeting with eight new members who are Elaine McMahon, Kerry Morris, Dianne Barber, Marjorie King, Susan Kyons, Pamela Cook, Edna Williams and Janet Fordham.
VIEW held one minute’s silence with background music of Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran in respect of missing members.
Pat Ford received a 10 year service pin.
In attendance were eight guests and 87 members.
The report for 2017 was read out.
Current membership for VIEW Lithgow is 143.
Guest speakers for February were four of our members who enlightened us all with details of their respective life stories. Thank you to Debbie Bennett, Barbra Kuncio, Robyn Decosta and Irene Bonnani.
Received cards were read out by Secretary Lyn Wren, one sympathy and a thank you from one of our sponsors for Learning for Life.
VIEW Lithgow supports eight disadvantaged children from The Smith Family.
Fay Read read out a poem called Voluntary (Volunteer for Service) to the new committee for 2018.
From the delegates’ report supplied by Irene Bonnani, the club learned that VIEW clubs throughout Australia support 1215 disadvantaged children to give them a better education and break the cycle of poverty.
Raffle prizes were won by Raelien Woodbury (1st), Janice Gurney (2nd) and Pam Hutchinson (3rd).
A reminder that subs are due on March 14. The cost of lunch is now $22.
The new Zone Councillor is Lyn Wren, who has seven areas under her wing.
