Family and friends gathered at the Lithgow Workmen’s Club on Saturday, February 10, to wish Ray Vought a happy 90th birthday.
Family members said Ray was very humbled and surprised to see so many people had come together from all over the State to help him celebrate his milestone.
The crowd was welcomed by Ray’s daughters, Colleen Boyd and Debra Morris.
Debra gave a glowing tribute to Ray as a father, while Ray’s son-in-law John Boyd called on guests to come up and share their memories of Ray over the years.
Keeping the crowd entertained was the presentation of some funny novelty gifts, presented to Ray by family and friends.
Ray’s many nieces and nephews spoke of fun family memories and times spent with Ray over the years.
A highlight for Ray was Glenda Phipps singing his favourite Frank Santra song, ‘I did It My Way’ with niece Maureen Rickets joining Ray for a dance.

The crowd partied all afternoon and into the night.
The Vought family would like to thank the Workman’s Club for donating the use of the Showroom for the party.
Ray played a special part in the Workies’ recent 130th birthday celebrations, cutting the anniversary cake as grandson of one of the founders.
