Blue Mountains Police Rescue were alerted by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) that an emergency beacon had been activated.
The signal was coming from a remote part of the Kanangra Boyd National Park and had been registered as part of the 'Think Before you TREK' program.
Lithgow Police organised a rescue including Oberon State Emergency Service volunteers, NSW Ambulance and Toll Air Ambulance.
Blue Mountains Police Rescue reported on its Facebook site that the bushwalker, a 17-year-old woman, was winched to safety onto a helicopter and treated for the effects of heat and dehydration.
