For some, that might mean the glory days when you could tuck into Tasty Toobs, chomp on Caramilk chocolate, or gorge on green frogs.

While you eat popular Australian treats over the holiday season, here's a look at the fate of some other classic snacks.

Caramilk chocolate

Remember that smooth, milky chocolate nicknamed "golden treasure"?

Cadbury's Caramilk, a caramelised version of solid white chocolate, was a cult favourite in Australia in the 1990s.

New Zealanders loved Caramilk so much that a social media campaign to bring it back prompted Cadbury to release a limited edition there last year.

It proved so popular that three months' worth of stock sold out in three weeks, and Australians paid as much as $30 per block on eBay. A million blocks were sold in less than a month.

A spokeswoman for Mondelez International, which owns Cadbury, said it took a lot of work to bring back a product.

"Ingredients, equipment and manufacturing standards all change over time, so replicating the classic Caramilk taste and texture took a lot of trial and error by our chocolate-making team to ensure we gave consumers what they wanted."

Vice Versas

They were like Smarties, but with a brown shell and a white chocolate filling or ... vice versa.

Nestle stopped making them in 1995, when manufacturing was moved from Lane Cove, in Sydney, to Campbellfield, in Melbourne.

Vice Versas are available in Britain, after more than 10,000 people campaigned for their return on Facebook in 2012.

At the time, a Nestle spokesperson said: "The clamour for the return for Vice Versas has grown enormously in the last 12 months to the point we had to act to satisfy consumer demand."

Herb and Spice Kettle chips

They were tangy and salty, just like the tears of those who miss them.

Snackbrands, who manufacture Kettle chips, did not respond to calls for answers on behalf of Australians who miss the crispy chips in the green bag.

And one quick Google search reveals many want them back.

There are two Facebook groups calling for their return, and mournful discussions on Reddit forums.

A writer who calls himself The Crisp Connoisseur titled his blog "What happened to Herb and Spice?" and reviewed Kettle's newer range of Chunky Mediterranean Herbs and Spices, noting his mother had chipped her tooth on one.

"Despite the cautions from concerned loved ones, I thought the chunky crisps were a success," he wrote.

Green frogs and spearmint leaves

Australians love an underfrog.

The green frog was deleted from Allen's Lollies range in 2015 because they were being overwhelmingly outsold by the red frog.

After consumer demand, Allen's brought them back two years later and they are now included in Frog Family packets, which include orange, yellow, red and green jelly amphibians.

Nestle said Allen's made 3960 individual frogs every minute, and a year's worth stacked head to tail would be 433 times taller than Sydney Tower.

Spearmint leaves were also discontinued by Allen's, but they were brought back for a limited time in pop-up stores in Sydney and Melbourne in the lead-up to Christmas.

Tasty Toobs

It seems 2015 was a horror year for junk food in Australia.

Smiths discontinued Tasty Toobs in October that year due to poor sales.

The news came out quietly when a Sydneysider noticed Toobs were no longer on shelves and wrote to Smith's Snackfood Company..

"It is with a heavy heart that we advise Toobs is no longer available," came a spokesperson's reply.

"Consumer demand for this tangy, tomatoey treat has declined and it is no longer possible to justify on-going production."

Shane Warne tried to start a campaign to bring them back, with no success.

"Why they are taking away this favorite of ours! Smiths, bring back the TOOBS! I'll buy a heap of them!," he wrote on his blog.

Space Food Sticks

They were out of this world delicious, but those chocolatey snacks disappeared into a black hole because they no longer met Nestle's nutritional requirements.

Nestle released an updated policy on sugars last year, which said it was committed to helping consumers "achieve target daily intakes of sugars corresponding to recommendations from the World Health Organisation".

Strawberry Ripe

Releasing a strawberry version of the classic Cherry Ripe in the early 2000s proved a bridge too far for Australians.

"We have tried different flavour variations of the Cadbury Cherry Ripe over the years, but Australians have told us that they love the tried and true delicious combination of ripe juicy cherries and moist coconut smothered in rich Old Gold dark chocolate."
