One of the biggest days on the Lithgow Golf Club calendar is approaching. The Gold Medal play-offs, pitting the best players of 2017 against one and other, is set down for Saturday, January 27.

The gold medals are played in A, B and C grade with golfers who have won a monthly medal or medals during 2017 eligible to win much sought-after prizes.
Medals which will again be sponsored Ron Evans Painting and the first round the Centennial Coal Age Championships.
The January monthly will also take place on Saturday.
So far Bill Oldfield is a top contender for A grade champion, having won three monthly medals through the year. Five golfers eligible to play in Saturday’s competition have won too.
Prior to this huge day golfers will be able to hone their skills on Australia Day (Jan 26) by playing in the Lithgow Workies two person ambrose.
Those eligible to compete in the Gold Medal play-off (in A, B and C order) are:

February: Ross Harrington, Mitch Luka and Warren Kennedy.
March: Tony Oldfield, Gary Keen and Al Seymour.
April: Don Farnsworth, Gary Keen and Greg Jackson.
May: Bill Oldfield, Bob Charlton and Nathan Harris.
June: Don Farnsworth, Chris Marjoram and Tom Jennings.
July: Travis Cameron, Bob Charlton and Dean Stafford.
August: Damien Marjoram, Dave Titcume and Greg Jackson.
September: Bill Oldfield, Brett Scanlon and Geoff Wheeler.
October: Justin Nelson, Peter Hall and Robbie Millar.
November: Max Nightingale, Kobe Hunter and Ron Evans.
December: John Chadwick, Peter Hall and Ben Oldfield.
