A meteorologist from Weatherzone said conditions will be fairly stable in Lithgow over the weekend. Relief will come at night when temperatures are expected to drop by more than 20 degrees.
“It’s looking like pretty nice sunny conditions today and into the weekend,” she said.
“Mornings will be around 12 or 13 degrees, with days hitting 34 degrees.”
Monday’s temperature, however, will approach record maximums for the area. The highest temperature recorded at Cooerwull’s weather station for January is 36.9 degrees, forecasts for Monday fall just a degree short of that.
“Coming into Monday its going to get a bit warmer with 16 degrees starting off Monday morning, rising to 36 degrees.
“Tuesday we will start to see a change come through that could bring a few storms with the temperature dropping back down to 34.”
The Weatherzone meteorologist said widespread hot temperatures in Victoria and New South Wales were due to warm air moving ahead of a low pressure trough that would move through Lithgow on Tuesday.
“You’re definitely not alone in feeling the heat.”
